Dear reader,

Thank you for subscribing! Since June my monthly newsletter has been postponed, and the reason for this is that I had to take a much needed break. Since the closing of All Souls last year I have been busy with a host of interviews, speaking engagements, projects, and courses. In fact, this is the busiest time I have had while waiting for my next pastoral call, and upon seeing this a colleague advised me to get some rest.

For those who know me, rest is something that I struggle with, for I come from a family and culture that highly value work and being "useful". Nevertheless, rest is a gift of grace from God (Matthew 11:28-29), and there are times where He has commanded His people to take it up (Exodus 20:8). Therefore, I have aimed since June to live with a joyful obedience, and have paused to step away from the business and relax. This time has been wonderful for my body and spirit, and has reminded me of the Lord's constant love and care.

Perhaps you too struggle with rest like me, and if this so I hope that you would take it up without delay. May you find some time to pause and step away from the business, and may you be refreshed and renewed in body and spirit.
