1. Lo, how a rose e’er blooming
From tender stem hath sprung
Of Jesse’s lineage coming
As seers of old have sung
It came, a floweret bright
Amid the cold of winter
When half-spent was the night

2. Isaiah ’twas foretold it
The rose I have in mind
With Mary we behold it
The Virgin mother kind
To show God’s love aright
She bore to us a Savior
When half-spent was the night

3. This flower, whose fragrance tender
With sweetness fills the air
Dispels in glorious splendor
The darkness everywhere
True man, yet very God
From sin and death He saves us
And bears our every load

Prayer

Gracious Father, I rejoice at all the plans You have for me, and the greatest plan was to send Your Son Who showed Your love to me. Give me patience to trust in you as Your providence unfolds and blooms with blessings that fill my heart with thanks and ceaseless praises. Amen.
